Platform and Trading

Is it possible to be logged into several accounts at once?

Yes. Although you cannot be logged into multiple accounts from one instance of MetaTrader 4, you can open several instances (separate MetaTrader 4 instances running at the same time on your computer) and log into different accounts accordingly.

Is it possible to access the same account from different computers?

Yes. As long as you have the correct login details, you can login to the platform from any computer, provided your connection settings are correct, and the connection is not being blocked by a firewall or your Internet Service Provider.

Can I change the time zone on my platform?

No, you cannot change the time offset on the MetaTrader 4 platform. The platform time is GMT +2, although during US Daylight Savings Time the platform changes to GMT +3 to stay in line with the 5pm New York market close.

Where can I view my trading history?

The trading history can be seen by clicking on the “Account History” tab in the ‘Terminal,’ at the lower part of your MetaTrader 4 platform. You can also modify your view timeframes and access reporting features by right clicking on any row in your account history view.

What happens to my open positions when I log out of MetaTrader 4?

Open positions will not be closed until an existing stop loss, take profit or stop out level is reached. Existing limit orders will still be filled if the entry rate is met.

Please note for Trailing Stop orders your MetaTrader 4 platform must be open and logged in.

Can I use robots in MetaTrader 4?

Yes. You can use any and all EAs (Expert Advisors) available by third party providers. Orbex does not restrict the use of any strategy or EA on variable spread accounts. For further information regarding our trading conditions, please visit our Trading Conditions page

Can custom indicators be used in MetaTrader 4?

Yes, you can use any custom indicators that are MQL compatible. Failing to download a custom indicator can occur as a result of coding issues on the side of the indicator creator.

How many Expert Advisors and indicators can I run at one time?

There is no restriction to the number of EAs and indicators you can have running at any one time on MetaTrader 4. That said, it is important to understand that MetaTrader 4 is a RAM sensitive program. Overloading your platform with a large number of EAs and indicators can reduce the performance and speed of your MT4 platform. Also, EAs may have conflicting strategies and risk profiles and can comprise each other when attached to one single trading account. Therefore, it is recommended to split your EAs across multiple trading accounts and platforms.

How can I change my MT4 password?

You can change your trading account password by following the below steps:
1. Click Tools on the top navigation bar;
2. Select Options > Server >Change. A new window will open;
3. Enter your current password and a new password;
4. Confirm the new password;
5. Click OK.

Alternatively, right click on your account that is displayed in the Navigator Window, select Change Password and follow the prompts.

What is a pip?

A “pip” is the smallest whole increment in any Forex pair. For pairs quoted in 5 decimal points, a pip increment is based on the fourth decimal. For pairs quoted in 3 decimal points, a pip increment is based on the second decimal. The value of a pip is determined by the currency of your account and the pair you are trading. If the quote currency is the same as your account currency, then a 1 pip move equals 10 account currency units per 100,000 traded.

What is spread?

The spread is the difference between the bid price (selling price) and the ask price (buying price).

What are the spreads that Orbex’s offers?

What is leverage?

The leverage of your account is the multiplier of your purchasing power that determines the amount of margin required for every trade. The higher the leverage, the more purchasing power you have.

What are the margin and leverage requirements?

The Client shall provide and maintain the Initial Margin within such limits as the Company, at its sole discretion, may determine, set, or update. The Company has no obligation to make Margin Calls for the Client. For more information on Margin Requirements, please visit our Trading Conditions page (under heading Margin Requirements).

The possible choice of a leverage rate ranges from 1:1 up to 1:500. Upon opening an account, a client is provided with a default leverage corresponding with his account type and total volume. The Client may change the leverage of his account, if applicable, by sending a request to backoffice@orbex.com.

The leverage may change automatically if the equity goes above a certain threshold. For more information on Leverage, please visit our Trading Conditions page (under heading Leverage).

What does lot size mean? What are forex Micro, Mini, and Standard Lots?

Forex Lot is basically a representation of Trade Size.

Standard: 1.0 lot is 100,000 units of the base currency

Mini: 0.1 lot is 10,000 units of the base currency

Micro: 0.01 lot is 1,000 units of the base currency (this is the minimum lot size)

 

The Base currency is the first currency in the currency pair. So essentially:

10 Mini Lots make 1 Standard Lot

10 Micro Lots make 1 Mini Lot

100 Micro Lot = 10 Mini Lot = 1 Standard Lot

What is the difference between spot trading and CFD (contract for differences)?

CFD ‘Contract for Differences’ is an arrangement made in a futures contract whereby differences in thesettlementare made through cash payments, rather than the delivery of physical goods or securities. While Spot Trading is the purchase or sale of a foreign currency or commodity for immediate delivery.

What are futures?

Orbex provides the possibility to trade in future contracts in metals (gold and silver), energies (crude oil and natural gas), soft commodities (coffee and sugar). For the full list of futures and their specifications, please click here.

There is no commission on futures,and the margin requirement is 1,000 USD/EUR regardless of the leverage, except for future gold where the margin requirement is 2,000 USD. Futures contracts have variable spreads. For a full list of spreads please click here.

Please note that the trades should be closed before the contract ends (before expiry date). Either they will be done automatically if you did not close them or you should close them manually before the expiry date and time. We will notify you before the expiration time is up.

Orbex offers the opportunity to its clients to subscribe to this service for free and receive trading signals on particular instruments 24/5, every two hours.In addition, we offer the Trading Central Indicator, which once you install it on the MT4 you can receive the signals directly on the MT4 and you will not have to login on our website.

The signals indicate the expected direction that the market will move, based on Trading Central, and they also provide a pivot point where they recommend that you set your stop loss.

What is a VPS?

How much does it cost to have a VPS?

Orbex offers VPSs to clients free of charge when they open an account and deposit it with a minimum of 500. VPS are valid to 1 month and can be auto renewed as long as the below requirements are met:

  1. Close a minimum of 3 standard lots.
  2. Keep your account with 500 Equity or higher.

If you do not meet the above requirements, your VPS will not be renewed.

Which account type should I choose?

At Orbex, we offer 5 different account types, which were designed to suit every trading style and strategy.

If you are looking for a stable spread that doesn’t change over time and doesn’t depend on market volatility, then, we recommend you to open a Classic account. Fixed spreads make your trading more predictable as they allow you to estimate the trading costs more efficiently, and make the use of Expert Advisors and trading bots easier.

Traders, who are looking for a variable (floating) spread, can choose from 3 options: Standard, Premium, or VIP. These account types feature more narrow spreads, compared to fixed ones. Variable spreads vary throughout the day and heavily depend on the market situation. Traders usually prefer variable spreads accounts because they can receive the best market price at the time of trading and due to the possibility of choosing any scalping strategy they like. However, you should keep in mind that variable spreads can widen significantly during volatility and important news releases.

In case you want to follow the winning strategies of experienced traders, and simply copy their trades; Orbex offers a Copy Trading account with variable spreads. Will I be sent a statement for my account?

You will receive an automated daily and monthly statements. These will be sent to your registered email automatically by the platform if there has been an activity during that period.

Can I generate my own account statements?

Yes. You can generate statements on request through MT4. Please refer to the ‘Account History’ tab in your MT4 platform, right click to define the period and then right click again to ‘Save a Report’ or ‘Save a Detailed Report’.

How do I change my account leverage?

Our accounts have a fixed leverage policy; please visit our Trading Conditions page – Leverage Section for further information. However, if you are entitled to change your current account leverage according to the said policy, please email us: backoffice@orbex.com

How can I transfer funds to/from a different party?

If you wish to transfer funds to another client of Orbex or receive funds from another client of Orbex, then this is possible as long as the following criteriaare met:

1. The request must come from the transferor (to send a request to backoffice@orbex.com).

2. We will require the “Inter-Account Transfer” form to be completed and signed by both parties.

3. We will require from both parties to have provided us with their respective signature card.

In order to obtain a form for the signature card, you will need to send a request to backoffice@orbex.com and we will provide you with the form. Each party will need to send us their respective signature card, from their respective registered email address.

Can I have multiple accounts and transfer funds between accounts?

Yes, you can have multiple trading accounts. To request an additional account, you need to log in to MyOrbex and submit an additional account request. Once the account is opened, you can transfer funds then between accounts directly through MyOrbex

Do you charge any fees for withdrawing funds from my account?

We do not charge fees for withdrawing funds by bank wire transfer. However, please note that you will be liable for any fees charged by the intermediary bank. Also, Orbex will pay all the electronic payment charges.

How can I withdraw funds from my trading account?

Withdrawals are processed within 15 minutes by deducting the amount from your trading account. Amounts of withdrawals must be transferred back to the original source of deposits up to the deposited amounts. You can submit your withdrawal simply by filling out our secure online withdrawal form in MyOrbex.

How can I deposit funds to my trading account?

You can deposit funds using a variety of funding methods including Bank Transfer, Credit/Debit Card, Skrill/Moneybookers, Neteller, Webmoney, FasaPay, and Union Pay.

What is the minimum funding amount?

You can open an account and get started by funding it with a minimum of 500 of the base currency of your account.

What base currencies can you open an account in?

Currently, we offer four different currency base options for our trading accounts. These are as follows: USD, EUR, GBP and PLN. We also accept funds in other currencies, but currency conversion fees apply.

Is it possible to change my Account type?

To change your account type, please send an email to backoffice@orbex.com and we will change this for you. However, if you have any open positions, they need to be closed first before sending us the request.

Please be aware that with account type change, the leverage, spread, and minimum volume will also change. For more information on our account types specifications, please visit our Account Types page.

What type of accounts do you offer at Orbex?

Orbex offers Fixed (Classic) and Variable spreads accounts (Standard, Premium, VIP, and Copy Trading).You can apply as an Individual, Jointly, or Corporate. To learn more about the account types, please visit our Account Types page.

How do I create a demo account?

Opening a demo account is as simple as it can be. Simply click on Open Demo Account option on our website and fill in your personal details to generate the account log-in details. You will be automatically emailed with your demo account and MyOrbex access details.

How can I open a Live Account?

Opening a live account is easy. Simply fill out the secure, online live account application form, from HERE and upload some identification documents in order to complete your application.

Identification documents are: ID proof such as a colored copy of your passport, personal ID or driver’s license and a proof of address such as a bank statement or utility bill. Any proof of address must be current and not outdated by more than 6 months.

Withdrawals Information

What is the Withdrawal Policy at Orbex?

Withdrawing funds from your Orbex account is simple and quick. Withdrawal requests are processed within 15 minutes by deducting the amount from your account.

Withdrawal amounts should be transfer back to the same sources of deposit until the original amounts have been covered. Direct Debit/Credit Card, has higher priority over other deposit methods to withdraw through and cover the deposited amounts by which.

Profit withdrawals or any amount over the initial deposits can only be sent by bank transfer or exceptionally via Skrill depending on the amount and upon finance department approval.

Minimum amount to withdraw via Bank Wire Transfer is 200 while it’s 50 via Electronic Methods (which also includes credit card payments).

How do you withdraw funds?

To submit a withdrawal from your Orbex trading account simply login to MyOrbex. From withdraw funds tab you can complete the secure online form by choosing ‘Bank Wire Transfer’ or ‘Online Payment Gateway’ then follow the prompts.

Alternatively, if you prefer, you can also choose to download the pdf version of the form by going to Traders Tab in our website and select Downloads.

For‘Online Payment Gateway’ methods, please make sure to complete the “Gateway Account” field correctly:

  • If you are to choose JCC, please enter the number of the card there
  • If you are to choose other online methods, such as Skrill or Neteller, please enter the Skrill or Neteller IDs (can either be a number or email that you use with that merchant).

For ‘Bank Wire Transfer’ you will first need to create a bank profile in order to be able to choose this bank for your withdrawal. In order to do so, please go to ‘profile options’ and choose ‘add/edit bank information’.

Please be aware that in case you choose “Express Withdrawal”, you will be charged $30 fee.

Are there any fees for withdrawing funds?

Orbex will pay all the electronic payment charges (except CashU payments). As for Bank Wire Transfer, please note that you will be liable to intermediary bank fees. For full information, please visit our Deposit Funds Page.

Can I cancel my withdrawal request?

In case you wish to cancel a withdrawal, it is possible, as long as the payment has not been processed. You need to email us to: backoffice@orbex.com and if possible then we will cancel the withdrawal and refund your trading account.

Can I withdraw Profits to Neteller/Credit Card/ or any other Online Methods?

You are allowed to withdraw funds up to the deposited amount via the same method as the deposited amount. However, any profit after covering the deposited amount(via the source of deposit) have to be sent via bank wire transfer or exceptionally via Skrill.

How do I deposit via WebMoney?

To fund your account, login to MyOrbex and go to Deposit Funds. From the list of deposit options please select WebMoney and follow the prompts.

The estimated transaction time for the funds to appear in your trading account is 15 minutes during our finance working hours 07:00 – 16:00 GMT.Orbex will cover the transfer charges. However, please note that any funds deposited will be converted to the base currency of your account. *Currency conversion fees may apply.

How do I deposit via Austpay (Union Pay)?

To fund your account, login to MyOrbex and go to Deposit Funds. From the list of deposit options please select Austpay and follow the prompts. The Chinese Renminbi is the only currency that can be used to deposit funds via ChinaPay.

The estimated transaction time for the funds to appear in your trading account is 15 minutes during our finance working hours 07:00 – 16:00 GMT.Orbex will cover the transfer charges. However, please note that any funds deposited will be converted to the base currency of your account. *Currency conversion fees may apply.

How do I deposit via Neteller?

Neteller is a global e-wallet provider delivering a fast and secure alternative to traditional wire transfers or credit card deposits. Easily accessible online, Neteller offers a quick and easy process to fund your trading account with the click of a button. To fund your account, login to MyOrbex and go to Deposit Funds. From the list of deposit options please select Neteller and follow the prompts.

The estimated transaction time for the funds to appear in your trading account is 15 minutes.

Orbex will cover the transfer charges. However, please note that any funds deposited will be converted to the base currency of your account. *Currency conversion fees may apply.

How do I deposit with Skrill (Moneybookers)?

Skrill (formerly Moneybookers) allows Orbex clients to easily fund their trading account using a debit / credit card or a direct Skrill e-Wallet transaction. To fund your account, login to MyOrbex and go to Deposit Funds. From the list of deposit options please select Moneybookers and follow the prompts.                    

The estimated transaction time for the funds to appear in your trading account is 15 minutes.

Orbex will cover the transfer charges. However, please note that any funds deposited will be converted to the base currency of your account. *Currency conversion fees may apply.

How do I deposit with a credit card?

To fund your account, login toMyOrbex and go to Deposit Funds. From the list of deposit options please select Direct Debit/Credit Card and follow the prompts.

Before depositing funds directly into your trading account, you must first provide Orbex with a scanned color copy of your credit/debit card. The following items must be clearly visible on your scanned color copy: 

  • The name on your card
  • The last four digits of the card
  • The expiration date
  • Bank Name

Estimated transaction time is 15 minutes as long as your card has been already checked and approved. Orbex will cover the transfer charges. However, please note that any funds deposited will be converted to the base currency of your account. *Currency conversion fees may apply.

What are Orbex’s banking details?

How do I deposit through a bank wire?

You can deposit funds via a bank wire transfer in a number of different currencies. Bank wire transfers are initiated by your bank and received by our client segregated accounts and conversion of the amount, if necessary, will be according to your account base currency.

The estimated time for deposits via bank wire to clear and appear in the client accounts is 1-5 business days.Intermediary bank fees may apply.

How can I deposit funds to my trading account?

Scroll down to the bottom of the page and select the desired platform. For further support, you can always chat with our professional support team.

Can I apply for another demo account?

Yes, you can – select ‘Request Demo Account’ from the ‘Profile Options’ and complete the form. The account will be created in a few seconds and you’ll receive an automatic email including the account details.

How do I apply for a new live account?

If you want to sign up for a live account, or an additional live account, simply select ‘Profile Options’. You’ll then be able to choose between Upgrading to Live Account and requesting an Additional Account.

How do I withdraw funds from my trading account?

You have two options for withdrawing funds from your trading account – go to ‘Withdraw Funds’ and you can either select ‘Bank Wire Transfer’ or ‘Online Payment Gateway’. Please be aware that withdrawal via Bank Wire Transfer will require adding your bank information via ‘Profile Options’ prior to initiating a withdrawal request.

Can I transfer money between my accounts?

Yes, you can transfer any free margin between accounts. From within the ‘My Accounts’ menu, simply select ‘Transfer Funds Between Accounts’ and choose the sending, recipient accounts and the amount then submit your request.

How can I fund my account?

To initiate account funding, click on ‘Deposit Funds’ and then select your desired method and simply follow the prompts to fund your trading account.

Can I change my account currency?

You cannot change the currency of your trading account through the portal. This is because you may have existing trading history which would become inaccurate after making such a change. You can easily apply for a new account and select your desired currency if you already have an existing trading history to this account. In case you don’t have a trading history in your account, you can email us to: backoffice@orbex.com to change the account currency.

Can I change my trading account password?

No, you cannot. You need to email us to: backoffice@orbex.com to provide you with a new password.

Can I update My Profile?

Your ability to update your profile information depends on the information you are updating. For example, if you have a live account already, you are not able to edit your name, however, you can update your address and mobile number directly and the update will be applicable once checked and approved by our back office department. If you only have a demo account, you can easily update your details.

What is Profile Options?

Profile Options tab is the area of the site that stores your personal information, such as your date of birth and contact information. This is automatically populated with information you’ve provided when signing up for your account. Through Profile Options tab, you can also edit profile information, request an additional account, add/edit bank information, upload documents and change MyOrbex password.

Why can’t I see all the features of the MyOrbex?

MyOrbex has a number of features which may not be applicable to your account type. For example, if you only have a demo account you’ll not see information on depositing funds. You’ll always see the features applicable to you. As your account type and status changes, your portal access will also evolve.

I have forgotten my password – what do I do?

At the login page click on ‘Forgot your password?’ and enter your registered email address. You’ll then be sent instructions on how to reset your password.

Go to MyOrbex and enter your registered email address and password you have received during the activation process.

How do I register to use MyOrbex?

You can get access to MyOrbex either if you have signed up for a live or demo account, you’ll automatically get access details sent to your email of registration.
